Diagnoza organizacji od A do Z

What is the book about?

The story of the book started in 1992 at a conference at Crete where I became aware of the importance of complex cognitive structures such as scripts or naive theories for the learning processes in a domain. As a certified trainer I would always start my job with "Training needs analysis".  I wanted to know the present concepts regarding trainees' organisation to be able to offer appropriate learning modules leading to change. What started as training needs analysis became organisational diagnosis viewed from the perspective of cognitive structures of the members of an organisation. Some of the structures had clearly pathological character, this is why the title of the first edition of the book was "Organisational pathologies". As in my training career a could repetitevely see the same reoccuring phenomena, I dared to classify them into a "nosological" system which would allow a consultant or a trainer to see how deep and difficult is the reason behind the organisational weakness. As 80% of the book is not devoted to pathologies but to description of diagnostic methods, the publisher convinced me to change the title of the book into more adequate one: "Organisational diagnosis from A to B".

As the book was presented as my habilitation, it went through a sever review process. In the second edition, I tried to incorporate the remarks of my reviewers, except one who stated that authors of books who assume the existence of a norm (in this case a healthy organisation) should be forbidden to be called scientists. In this way I would end up outside of science with all medical sciences. Fortunately for me the majority of Philosophical Faculty of the Jagiellonian University did not share this point of view.
